Prayer for the Third Sunday in Lent

Dear God,

As we enter into the third week of Lent, we turn our hearts and minds to the story of the woman at the well. This powerful narrative offers us insights into the depth of your love and the transformative power of encountering you.

We pray for the courage and humility to recognize our own need for transformation. Like the woman at the well, we often find ourselves seeking satisfaction in things that ultimately leave us feeling empty and unfulfilled. Help us to recognize that true satisfaction can only be found in you.

We ask that you open our hearts to the truth of your love, which transcends all boundaries and barriers. The woman at the well was a Samaritan, an outsider to the Jewish community, but you met her where she was and offered her the living water of your grace. May we be similarly open to encountering your love in unexpected places and people.

We pray for those who feel like outsiders in our communities, especially women and those who have been marginalized or excluded. May we be advocates for justice and equality, welcoming all with open arms and hearts. May we offer the same living water of your grace to all who are thirsty.

As we fast, pray, and give alms during this season of Lent, may our actions be rooted in love and compassion. May we be transformed by your spirit, and may our lives be a reflection of your love and goodness.

We ask all of this in your holy name.

Amen.
