About the Author

Greetings! I’m Reverend Tim Powers-Reed, and I’m on a heartfelt journey at the crossroads of faith, inclusivity, and activism. As the lead pastor at Trinity UCC Belleville, I bring a deep sense of purpose to my role, infusing our congregation with a spirit of love and acceptance that resonates, especially with members of the LGBTQIA community.

Being a proud member of the LGBTQIA community myself, my personal journey intertwines with my ministry, creating a safe haven where individuals from all backgrounds can find solace and spiritual connection. At Trinity UCC Belleville, I lead with a progressive vision, championing equality, justice, and the transformative power of love within the Christian faith.

Beyond the traditional pulpit, I’ve ventured into the digital realm as the owner and author of www.pastortalk.net. This platform serves as a virtual pulpit for the modern era, where I share reflections, sermons, and engaging conversations that delve into contemporary issues, inviting a broader audience to join meaningful discussions about faith and social justice.

My commitment to LGBTQIA+ advocacy extends into my leadership role as the President of Common Ground, the LGBTQIA+ organization at Eden Theological Seminary. There, I actively foster community and support among students, promoting understanding and acceptance within the seminary environment.

Simultaneously, I’m immersed in my doctoral studies at Eden Theological Seminary, exploring the intersection of theology, activism, and inclusivity. My academic pursuits reflect a dedication to advancing the dialogue on progressive Christianity and its role in fostering positive change in the world.

In the multifaceted roles of pastor, author, activist, and student, I’m dedicated to creating spaces where faith and inclusivity intersect, forging a path towards a more compassionate and understanding world.
