Judgement instead of Love Serene: a spoken word about Church hurt and the LGBTQIA+ community.

In the realm of church, where hearts once sought, A sanctuary of solace, love, and thought, A chorus of voices, vibrant and strong, But shadows of hurt lingered far too long.

For in the pews, where faith should thrive, Church hurt and trauma kept hope deprived. The queer community, longing to be seen, Found judgment instead of love serene.

But in the midst of pain and dismay, A truth emerges, shining its ray. For Jesus, the embodiment of grace, Never condemned, nor shunned a queer embrace.

His words, a symphony of love and light, Did not speak against love’s diverse might. In the scriptures, where stories unfold, No verses condemn what love does hold.

So why, dear church, did you choose to wield, A judgmental sword, refusing to yield? Did you forget the teachings of Christ, And the message of love He sacrificed?

His life, a testament to inclusion’s worth, A call to embrace every soul on earth. He welcomed the outcast, healed the broken, And in His love, all were awoken.

But church hurt and trauma, a painful stain, Caused the queer community immense pain. Their spirits wounded, their faith betrayed, By a faith that should have loved and stayed.

Oh, let us reckon with this painful truth, And mend the wounds caused by unkind sooth. For love is love, in every form, And all deserve to feel safe and warm.

May the church, with humility, learn anew, To love without judgment, to embrace the true. To heal the hurt, to foster a space, Where queer souls find love’s embrace.

For in the heart of every soul, we find, The divinity that unites all mankind. Let us rebuild, restore, and atone, For the trauma caused, and hearts left alone.

May the church reclaim its sacred role, To love and accept, and to make whole. And in the light of Jesus’ guiding way, May the queer community find healing, we pray.

For church hurt, though deep, can be transformed, By compassion’s touch, its power performed. Let love’s pure essence be our guide, As we heal the wounds, side by side.

In this journey, may empathy prevail, And queer voices rise, their stories regale. Together, we can forge a path anew, Where church becomes a haven, both just and true.

For Jesus’ love transcends all strife, Uniting us in the tapestry of life. In the realm of church, let healing start, With love as the language of every heart.
