Warriors True; a spoken word about managing one’s emotions

Emotions run deep like an ocean A tidal wave of feelings in constant motion In today’s world so full of strife It’s hard to keep your head above the tide

We’re bombarded by news and social media Every day feels like a new encyclopaedia Of pain, suffering, and injustice It’s hard to know what to trust

Our emotions can feel overwhelming Like we’re constantly treading water, never quite succeeding But we have the power to control the tide To harness the waves and take them in stride

It starts with awareness, of how we feel Recognizing our emotions and what they reveal Are we feeling angry, sad, or stressed? It’s important to know, so we can address

Next, we need to reframe our thoughts To change the narrative, the story we’ve bought We can’t always control what happens around us But we can control how we react, with trust

Trusting in our own strength and resilience Trusting in a higher power, with diligence We can weather any storm that comes our way And emerge stronger, brighter, with a newfound sway

So let us not be overcome by emotion Let us rise above the commotion With awareness, trust, and reframing We can face any challenge, with a newfound naming

We can manage our emotions, in today’s turbulent world With grace, strength, and a heart unfurled For we are more than our feelings, we are warriors true With the power to control the tide, and make our dreams come true.

  1. Even though my reframing has some “cracks” in the glass (speaking very literally here)…still SO integral for us to thrive. Reframing can be infinitely life-giving.
